WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY LOVED ONE?
Hospice provides a Coordinated Home Care Teamthat works with thepatient's private physician.

NURSING CARE

Our on-staff Registered Nurses provide an initial assessment and on-going care (RN's) in conjunction with the patient’s physician. FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE RNs are available to patients and families 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our RNs are free from limitations set by insurance companies and federal programs and thus are able to visit patients as often as needed. RNs regularly care for each of our patients and are with our patients as often as needed.
FOCH does not set time limits on the medical care we provide to our patients, nor do we insist that our patients forfeit all curative care measures.
-- We provide medical equipment and supplies, at no charge, to help families care for their loved ones.

Financial assistance is provided for patients who need pain and nausea medications.

PERSONAL CARE

A Personal Care Assistant is sent to the patient’s home as needed to provide assistance with daily activities and needs.

SPIRITUAL CARE

We have an on-call chaplain to provide spiritual comfort as requested.

DAILY LIVING CARE

Our well-trained and extremely qualified patient volunteers provide support and respite for the patient and family, doing everything from driving patients to/from doctors’ appointments, shopping for groceries, picking up prescriptions, even taking a dog out for a walk. Mostly, our volunteers are asked to spend time with the patient to give family or the caregiver time away.

WHAT DO THE SERVICES COST?
They are free.

HOW DO I REQUEST SERVICES?
Shortened life expectancy for any reason is the only qualification for referral to the FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE. The patient or a family member or friend can make a referral by calling us at (843) 525-6257.

DOES MY LOVED ONE HAVE TO BE NEAR DEATH?
NO. We stress the importance of calling early, not just when death is imminent. During the beginning stages of a terminal illness, more resources can be put in place and the patient and family can be better prepared for what is to come.

YOU SAY THE SERVICES ARE FREE--HOW ARE THEY FINANCED?
