WE ARE COMPLETELY LOCAL
28 Years ago, we were the first hospice in Beaufort County, founded by Beaufortonians wishing to help a dying friend. "Founded by Beaufort, for Beaufort County."
WE ARE 100% NON-PROFIT
Because we were founded out of an overwhelming concern for people instead of a concern for profit, our purpose is singular: to provide quality care for our patients and families. We do not generate any profit; all monies go directly to our patients, their families and to the programs and people in our organization that make it all possible.
WE DEPEND 100% ON DONATIONS
Because FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE is not paid by patients, insurance companies or federal pay-out programs, we are sustained only by generous gifts of money and time from organizations and individuals. If you would like to make a donation, please contact our office.
WE OFFER A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO CARING
• Caring For Our Patients
• Caring For Our Families and Caregivers
• Caring For Our Community

When Beverley A. Porter became Executive Director of FRIENDS of Caroline HOSPICE fourteen years ago, it employed only two people, operated out of the constantly-flooding basement of a downtown Beaufort house, and served a small patient population limited by modest resources.
Today, fromour Hospice Center on 13th Street in Port Royal, which FRIENDS owns free and clear of any debt, Beverley heads a staff of 17 professional employees, and more than 800 trained volunteers serving approximately 125 patients, their families and members of our community on a weekly basis. Additionally, FRIENDS has a proactive, 20-member Board of Directors and an advisory board of seven.
